For a Mexican coin to impress you, I consider that high praise indeed. Thanks.

If, I would have lived back then, I probably would have waited at the mint to purchase freshly struck gold/silver coins:) Now you see a lineup to buy the newest version of the smartphones(I do not even own one!) The modern so called collector coins, can't even come close to the beauties from 1500-1850s. Back in those days, the title "mintmaster" really meant something!

1760 J. Kirk's effort for George III's accession (BHM #4). Even at age 22 George III was apparently a bit jowly.

Sorry if I'm a bit early at the 1759 show (it's been more than 24 hours since we started 1760 though) but I will be out of town for the next couple of days and wouldn't want to miss the date, since I won't show off for almost a century then....

What’s cool about those Swedish coins is that many issues at the start of the 19th century simply used these as planchets. Sometimes you get two dates, 50 years apart, on the same coin.

1759 Age of Majority for George III. T. Pingo's engraving was a bit flattering compared to Benjamin West's portrait of the king. P1010033-tile.jpg

1759 Battle of Quiberon Bay, Belleisle (perhaps by J. Kirk. but the figures are in the style of T. Pingo).
