PMD post mint damage- not a mint error.

    Thanks,

Read about Clips. Should be a straight down chop right? Not angled. Those presses have tons of pressure chopping down and leave a clean moon edge chop.

If you understand what a true clip is then you would know. The Blank Planchet is not itself clipped. During the process of cutting out blanks the sheet shifts a bit so the next blanks that are cut out are actually missing pary of the metal. Edge clips are blanks that are cut near the end or edge of the sheet. So your statement is incorrect. The blank was already cut is not cut again neither sheared.

I would sure like to have that coin in hand, there are certain aspects to me that raises questions about a PMD shear; the condition of the rim in other areas and the proximity of certain elements to the rim make me wonder. Just a thought as I have a tendency to think in terms of possibilities. In other words, you are probably (or even most likely) right, but considering all of the events that occur from start to finish in the making of a coin, what if . . .

But somehow it gets cut. And angled isnt a factor. You deserve the endless roadkill pennies on here. Perfectly matches your quality comments.

Nope.. Never! The Blank Planchet does not get cut. There was never anything there to cut.

Blanks are Punched out of the
    long solid planchet strip.

The term should be 'incomplete planchet',
but since the earliest days of the error
hobby segment, this has been called
    'clipped planchet'.......

Thanks im just getting use to coin collecting. I would consider selling if its worth anything. Its a cool coin the back side looks as if it was flattened in the same area on the oppsite side. The corner extends as if the coin was shaped with a very very slight corner
