No! Some people don't sell their coins. They keep them for the love:kiss::kiss: of the hobby.

I never read the book, but do recall his articles in Coin World years ago. I even had a rebuttel published in the Viewpoint Op Ed section critical of his "holier than thou" anti-toning rants (and I prefer white over toned coins). But if I remember correctly, the Chemistry was pretty good, as you said

Yeah I am seeing what people are saying...a glorified ad for intercept shield or whatever...it's a little distracting but oh well...and the anti-tone viewpoint...he makes a good point. Just read the part about two guys sticking the same MS dime in storage for ten years: one in a intercept shield thingie and the other in a desk drawer with papers. They both get them graded and the one in the drawer has toned all red, blue and gets a better grade by a grader who likes toned coins. He reasons that it makes sense that a coin with chemical corrosion should not be considered MS let alone grade higher than a blast white untoned example. I mean the logic is sound. I could see people paying more for the colors if that's what they dig but should definitely not have anything to do with grade ( unless it's downgraded because of tone).

And I gotta say that I am coming back into the coin world after years away and it was a bit of a shock to find people desiring tone. I am used to the idea now but initially I thought it was the craziest thing ever...I remember thinking man some slick dude got people paying more for improperly stored coins than those that are flawless! Crazy!

And remember the next color after blue is black!

    Lol

There have been a lot of threads regarding toning on CT. Not my thing, but who am I to criticize what others like. "Better living through Chemistry".

I'm sure there are things that I collect, that others find trivial and meaningless.
