Here is a coin I resently had the opportunity to purchase. It has double strike on reverse and a tripe strike on the obverse. Can this coin be considered an error coin, considering the way it was produced? And does the doubleing make it more or less valueable. And would this coin be considered unique. Thanks for any and all input.
Cool coin! I don't really consider double striking to be an "error" per se on these hammered coins. Remember, a guy was literally thwacking the die with a giant mallet - a bit of bounce on the hammer and you've got a double strike. Sometimes if one strike is seriously misaligned (that is, a secondary image significantly off center from the first), it may be more interesting, but that doesn't look to be the case on your coin.
