Grandfather passed away back in 2001 left me some old U.S. coins and this Roman coin. Looks to be brass and has some weight to it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Fake?

I'm very new at this but nothing seems fake to me, style seems, right patina is ok, but may we see a picture of the edge of the coin to check for a casting seam?

    Thanks,
    Jacob

I'll try to get a better shot of the edge.

Everything checks out to me but don't take my word for it I am VERY new at ancients so I'll wait for others to answer before I confirm.

    Thanks,

No, actually that says NEP - RED and im pretty sure it’s ok. NEP=Neptune

That would be a reference to Neptune, the guy with the trident on the reverse?

I did not see a published example with that legend, but I did not look that hard.

I would be happy for it to be a genuine coin.

    :)

I certainly cannot say with any certainty, but I believe it is NOT genuine. Something is off compared to the coins referenced above.
