I love Ikes. They were the first series that I started to collect when I got back into collecting a few years ago. I have two complete sets...Mike

I've always loved 'em. I was a Coin World subscriber many years ago, when Congress was debating making a coin to honor him. They had an article about the coming Ikes almost every issue.

I wouldn't use them as regular money for any reason, unless I was extremely desperate!

The last two years I vacationed in Abilene Kansas. Ike's boyhood home. Neat place.
The Eisenhower Center souvenir shop is selling run of the mill Ikes for $5 each.
Sold out of the 1990S Commemorative Proof. I paid $27 last year.
Only had two 1971S proofs left after I bought one. I paid $15

They said that they are having a harder and harder time getting even the run of the mill Ikes.

I am lucky if I get 1 every six months at my bank & they keep stuff for me

my local bank always has tons of ikes...

last time I was there they said they had a couple hundred.

I usually buy them at the bank at face value and spend them for fun.

And I live in Manhattan, Kansas. Pretty close to Abilene Kansas.

I know where Manhattan KS is. You are by Milford Lake. Pretty place.
They have a fish hatchery there and a neat butterfly museum, in season.

The reason Ike looks like a General is because he was a 5 Star General
    http://ask.yahoo.com/20020308.html
Very few ever made that rank!

Omar Bradley and Eisenhower went to West Point together
I dont remember the year. But it was called "the class that stars were made from"

Yep I know Mill History is one of my hobbies :D It is more than just looking like a general though, through out history certain individuals have had a certain look about them and he is one, look at his portrait, then have a look at Alexander, Ceaser(Julius), Wellington, Napoleon they all have that look about them :D
I have treated myself to anothe half dozen Iks for the collection will post pics when they arrive :thumb:

I've been buying them up, when I see them.
I speculate they will begin to rise within the next 5 years.
Also, as has already been noted, there's just something about a nice weighty coin.
    :)
