This is a situation in which you might score a good buy. Bad pics scare away bidders. With his return policy statement, if it goes cheap enough, it would be worth a try. You just might like what arrives in the mailbox. If not, return it.

Question marks in the title scare me (and the horrible pictures). Still I have bought from sellers like this before AFTER many questions.

Could be a good deal as his feedback is good and as for the question marks - is this an avenue around ebay's rules?

    Hmmmm..... interesting auction.

So, just buy it as a non-S/Hor S and you'll do okay either way.

I would, and wish I could, but I exactly can't. Wish I could. Seems to be turning out to be an okay deal, but with those pics never know if the S is real or not.

Im sorry. Lousy picture and question marks,
I couldn't bring myself to bid on it, even with his good feedback.

    Clembo,

What were your result's after asking the seller question's? That is a interesting 1909 S that is for sale but I would be hesitant to bid also.

    Rhubarb,

I didn't ask any questions as I had no intentions of bidding. Arizona Jack asked some questions. Seeing he hasn't posted I'm thinking he got no response(s).

My point was that I HAVE bid on auctions like this in the past without being burned. Usually got good deals actually.
The key is to ask A LOT of questions and get a A LOT of straightforward and prompt replies.
If you get no replies or seem "fishy" stay away.

and why would they be selling a coin worth probaly near $150 on ebay for $37, when they would sell it to a coin dealer for 4 times that much?

oop's. sorry clembo. I misread the post. My apologies.

I wouldn't bid on this auction. I would need better picture's of the coin and a better explanation of a horizontal S. My sincere apologies Clembo

It is now $52. I would be reasonably sue it will finish over $100. That is the way eBay works. Everything happens in the last 15 seconds.

You certainly don't need to apologize Rhubarb it gave me an excuse to further explain why ;)

Still wondering if AZ Jack got any responses though.

My questions as to color, strike, wheats, hair, and cleaning were answered to my satisfaction. If anybody here is going after it, say so, we don't want to drive price up needlessly.
I will place my bid with 1 second to go otherwise, but I'm not saying how much.

I agree. Why bid against one another to help the seller.

OK, I see a coin-talker has bid, so I'll give you what he told me...

Actually just grades fine, color darker than pic, does not appear cleaned,
have at it, I don't need a fine, just bought one, ICG F-15, it's in my recent feedback. $107.73 shipped, seller was Salamanka.
