Lovely Carus & Maximian Tetradrachms

    First is a Maximian. My other "Maximian" turned out to be a good screw up, a Galerius, so I had to replace it with a actualMaximian and this was from Franks last bargain list.

    It's Ex Zuzim at $50, I got it for $18 after shipping.

    Carus was enjoying a good bomb of new threads a while ago & I was gonna share my tet, but didn't get around to it till now.

    The eagle I think is very well done on this example.

    Wow, that is sure a bargain for the Max! I paid a lot more for mine but am OK with that, as it is a final year issue, 295-6 (year 11 for Max) and also ex Keith Emmett. Also sports Christmasy red doodads. :)

    Very nice pickups. Maximian is one of my favored emperors yet no Egyptian coinage for him yet.

    Great coins @Mat , I really like them both a lot. Just pleasant patinas!

    The Carus is particularly nice with its unusually generous (for the era) flan and lovely reverse!
