Went to the coin store to check out what they might have in their large cents, etc. Well I didn't really find anything super good. I did get a normal date ag 1823. From the copper I go to the shield nickels, I find a recut(I think) 1874 nothing great (f12 coin). Then I move to the CBH to peruse those - got this one for around $60. I manage to stay away from the 200-300 ones and a couple of those were beauts. So heres to ben: Looks like the 8 was recut. The best part was I got to see 1955 DD in MS60 shape. It was already sold, man what a nice coin it was. I got to talk to the guy who bought it for a few minutes. According to him he buys mostly rare lincolns - this is is third 1955 DD coin. Hmmm - yet he is still looking for a MS 1909 SVBD, plus he has a gold collection not sure what. He even asked me why I collect large cents, since they don't do anything for him. Not sure he realized what he asked. He made the trip more interesting.
lots of history there. Looks to be in the VF-25/30 range O-101 Large Date, Large Letters (R-1). Take Care Ben
Wow, awesome coin! Nice buy too. :thumb: I wish I had that guys job! I guess he sure takes collecting seriously! Sounds like you had a good time. :thumb: Phoenix
Had so much fun went back today. So I had to buy something different - did not know enough about the seated halfs, so I just bought a couple MS 60 - 63 morgan dollars. I figured I needed a couple of them. I need to study up on the seated halves they have a couple that I like. Now I have to stay away until next payday at the end of the month.
gosh, i wish i had a couple thousand dollars to spend on a 1955 double die in MS-65! nice coin you bough too.
