I'm not great with this but it almost looks like a D over S. Not sure if thats even a thing for this year.

  5. Thank you. That's what I thought until I zoomed in on the obverse picture. Tap for auto zoom.

When we tap your picture it gets larger but it gets blurry.. Same on your other thread with your question about the S mint mark.

I say a small Die Chip in the D mint mark with some circulation damage.

    Not D over S

Man you are sooooo close. I agree with paddyman but pictures are inconclusive but I say the D took a hit for sure.

  8. Thank you. I didn't say D over S but thank you anyway. It doesn't get blurry when I do it. I believe you can minimize and maximize.

  9. Thanks everyone. Added to my collection. I'm trying. Lol

Just hang on to it and start saving for a microscope. This is one I bough used a couple of years ago I use in the field $10. Yea it’s rinky dinky but it works very well. My go to scope is an old stereo scope by Swift I got used years ago $75. Just like coin errors if you wait you’ll get a good one it just takes time. image.jpg

That's the kind of pic you want to post. Nice job. BTW: it clearly shows that the MM took a hit. Keep searching. The more coins you look at, the more knowledgeable you'll become. And don't forget to look at the error web sites people posted on your threads in the past. Lots of great stuff to learn on those sites

Oldhoopster is right that is an acceptable picture now to post for inspection. Well done. BTW if you are gonna save for a scope try to find a used optical scope with a trinocular head so you can attach your photo equipment and can leave it attached all the time. I just have a binocular but I don’t use mine for pictures just looking. OR just buy a inexpensive digi set up they’re avalible with a viewing screen for very little money. You’ll pay much more for a good used optical scope than a decent digi. set up. It’s up to you I just like to look thru glass. If the power goes out I can still see my coins thru the glass but You can’t see a coin through a blank monitor! But for pictures, GOOD TO GO!

Oh yea, I looked at coins with a 5X magnifying lense for 30 years before I got a scope and still managed to find lots of fun stuff no problems. I know I missed 10’s of thousands of things but it didn’t stop me from having fun. I still use a bare lense to this very day here is one of my little friends with me this morning in the trenches looking at some more rolls of copper. Why do I use a bare lense you ask? Because Rusty Wilson the neighborhood Bully would beat you up for anything of value you might have so we would take the lense out of the frame and carry our glass in our back pocket that way the handle wouldn’t stick out and draw attention. Also had to put any coins in our underwear on he way back so he wouldn’t find our treasures when we came back on our bikes. Tough days back then I don’t know what today’s kids would do if they got beat up two or three times a month! image.jpg

  16. Thanks everyone for the tips. I'm definitely saving for a scope but right now all I'm doing is taking pictures with my smartphone and zooming in on the pictures. I also have a digi and I weigh EVERY PENNY 1983-2008? Whichever year is the last for Lincoln Memorial and trying to find that 3+g penny. But right now it's eyes and a flashlight and if I deem it worthy I take a picture and inspect from there. Pretty rudimentary but gets it done for now. Can anyone show me an example of a grease mark please? Thanks everyone again

This is good book to answer a bunch of general questions. This one I’ve had for twenty one years so I don’t know what it looks like now. I’m a child of encyclopedias and three ring binders so I like books. This only cost me $10 back in the day so it’s more now I’m sure but I bet you can find it on Amazon used under five bucks. I’m in the middle of roll hunting this is a portion of my “Dirty” desk image.jpg

Matty I don’t know if you saw my picture coin I posted this morning here it is I found it about 4 hours ago out of the small pile in he earlier pictures. I named him “Stick um up Abe” 2E2C34E2-6777-44D9-82DE-B82C8FDAA56A.jpeg CAD40113-086A-414F-B059-A6E41EC4E846.jpeg

  19. Cool. I appreciate that. I will start looking for books. I just don't know enough and I'm afraid I might have missed something. But the plus side is, I don't spend pennies. I keep all my pennies. Lol. I grew up with encyclopedias, traper keepers and three ring binders too. My pennies are all separated at the moment except for one pretty big pile on a spread out newspaper. I'll post here in a second what I found in my pocket change today. It's nothing coveted but it's an early 60's penny and even if there's no error I still keep it cause I love wondering where it's been, who's pocket might have been in, what stores or banks it's been to, my penny could have been in someone's pocket while that person was at Area 51 or something. You just don't know and I love thinking about that stuff with old pennies. I'm also a foster penny parent. I see a penny on the ground heads or tales and no matter the damage and I pick them up and take them home.
