This one is suspect to me. A "pewter" Annam cash. "Very rare."

Found when someone tried to use it to pay the toll at the Brooklyn Bridge I bet.

Hmm I feel inspired to start my own slab company called The "very professional numismatic federal bureau" we will specialize in selling lumps of melted pennies that are the size of an ancient coin give or take:Ive attached a pic of the prototype aPepperoni.png

You have the right idea @marco, but wrong denomination... your basis should be the RR bronze coin, the As. I could show mine.

    From eBay:- http://www.ebay.com.au/gds/Dont-Buy-Coins-In-These-Holders-Unless-/10000000018854582/g.html

If you bid on coins in the holders listed below then you're taking a chance of buying a coin that is over-graded, cleaned and may not be authentic. So it's not worth your money or time to even patronize the seller who sells coins in these holders.

    That list includes Littleton.

Based on what I've seen in person and read here, I think I'd take Littleton's opinion on a coin over the opinion of whoever assembled that list.

Somebody painted with a pretty broad brush to make that list, and I take issue with some of the inclusions.
    • Hallmark had some very conservatively graded coins.
    • ICCS, despite using a heat-sealed flip instead of a plastic capsule, is a very reputable service for Canadian coins and has a reputation with many people of being quite conservative in their grading. Ask a collector of Canadian coins.
    • PCI: I've done OK with the old green labels. In fact, my greatest cherrypick of all time was in a PCI green label holder. But yes, one does has to be wary of their later-generation material.
Yes, I stick with pretty much just PCGS and NGC nowadays, but would not turn down an ANACS or ICG coin based solely on aversion to the plastic.

Here's how I break it down, and I'm not alone in so doing:

    First tier:
    • PCGS
    • NGC

    Second tier:
    • ANACS
    • ICG

    Third tier:
    • Everybody else

Really, regardless of the plastic, one has to be wary. There are dogs and jewels in every brand of plastic.
