    Couldn't resist this...

The coin below sold at the January 2017 Triton XX auction for $5,950 including buyer's premium:

It was apparently bought by a dealer for resale. Use the above poll to guess the dealer's asking price for this coin.

Feel free to add a comment or reasoning behind your guess.

If you ask, then it has to be the maximum...

Looks like a rare coin, have not seen this type before. Probably a bargain under 6K,
and knowing these rare gold in pristine condition usually find a buyer I am happy to guess over double previous sale.

I guessed the highest amount since that would be the most surprising and reason enough to create a thread about it.

Whatever it is, buying in high profile auctions and trying to resell right after makes it easy to see the mark up. Nicholas from Pegasi and I had an interesting conversation on that topic.

$16,750. But I'd rather buy a new Jeep.

I see quite a few dealers simply doubling their purchase price and using that as their starting point.

I guessed $13,750 (basically double the price, plus 20%)

However if it is a certain VCoins dealer, then it might be the $19,750.

All of the above, is why I usually buy at auction.

i'm going to say the least amount choice.. that would allow for a good return on a 5xxxx+ investment and 12 mos. time.. but idk..

I'll go middle of the road at $13,750 for a 131% markup - that should leave a little bit of wiggle room for the guy that gives a low ball offer.

Ordinarily I would have chose $7,750 simply because i think that is the high-end retail for a aureus of this type and grade....but what do I know, I only own a hekte and a tremisses:D. But since this thread seems to suggest an off-the-charts offering, I'll go with $16,750---and perhaps a 'best offer' option;):D

If it's that guy on ebay with a "certain rating and a certain price", 1 million dollars, but marked down to 19, 750.

But seriously, I'm in for the full 19, 750.

@4to2centBC figured the vcoins dealer correctly. The keyword in his online "about us" bio is ancients for INVESTMENT. He has many in the five digits that he probably got for three or four digit prices. He doesn't need to sell them and figures they are so rare and attractive that they will gain enough value/demand eventually. That's what I figure anyway.

I voted $13,750 but even that would be several years of coin budget for me. I would have to have a lot of expendable cash to spend that much. I feel more comfortable under say $300 but sometimes spend a bit more.

Well, at those prices, it would constitute a BAD investment.

BTW I dont see anything in the "about us" section about investment. Perhaps a recent edit?
