I'm at a solid 64 as well. Looks like you finally found your long awaited toner. Nice coin.

 

Gonna say 65 based on pictures but it may be 64 if the luster isn't great.

Yes! I love the different looking ones and it was affordable. It's my first slab too. Next I'll save up for a rainbow toner but that'll be a while I'm guessing d:

 

No, there isn't much updating. Keep in mind, Leroy Van Allen (the "VA" in VAM") is still the person designating all new VAMs, and they're still being identified in sufficient volume to keep him working full-time well into his Eighties. There simply isn't time to re-run the race in many cases.

So the final reason I like this coin is because I felt it was under graded, it was given a 63! Maybe they didn't like the toning.

This coin to me has so much I can talk about and I love to tell people about the special features and I considered this difference in grading another special feature. So I happily paid less for what I thought was a higher graded coin.

@Bob Evancho was the only one to guess the grade given at MS 63

@Pickin and Grinin got the price exactly right at $90



Oh also I liked the verification number 843 843 73. Kinda neat.

Beautiful reverse.

 

I sold an 1882o that had a very similar pattern. It was a “blue meanie” on the obverse, and had similarly intense textile toning on the reverse. The coin was in a PCGS 64 holder, and I got $249 for it.

 

WOW amazing .. would have thought it would be better than a 63. The grader must have not liked Toned Coins

 

As I have said in our PM's, nice score!! Love the blue/green obverse set against the warm colored reverse. Now you need to send it to CAC and see what they think.

 

I think 1887 is a more common to have toning, but id be ok with flipping a coin like that one day ha

 

Thank you I don't buy a lot of coins so when I do I just get stoked lol I don't want to get to crazy but if I did send it to CAC I would expect a green bean pretty easily but I would have a hidden hope to catch a Gold.

 

wait... do they not do gold anymore? I just looked at the site and they only show green? Maybe I made it up in my head but I swore I read in a forum once that someone wanted a gold and it had something to do with if your coin is undergraded and acceptable for the grade above.

 

They do award gold on the rare occasion...
