I seem to be having trouble getting a direct fit airtite to close all the way when I put the thicker copper-nickel Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents (1856-1864) in them. Is this a known/common issue and, if so, is there a similar holder that does fit properly? tia
Yeah I have that problem too. They are best for bronze indianss and Lincolns. What you could to is use the ring style air tites. I think they are thicker and the ring will conform to the thickness and shape on the copper nickel cents better. Try these: http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/products/ring-style-air-tite-holders/
Thanks for the suggestion. I had thought of it but would like to keep all of my small cents in the same type of holder - I'd have to switch all of them over to the ring style. Not what I was hoping for. I know airtite makes some extra deep holders for a large coin (too lazy to look it up), and I was wondering if they make an extra deep version of other sizes.
Im not sure about that. Maybe someone other than air tites? I switched all of my raw coins to premiere world holders. Self slabs if you will. They work pretty good on most US type coins and they are much easier to stack. If you must change, maybe look into them?
