Hi, you sound like somebody who knows a lot about the liberty dollars. I just inherited three liberty head $20 coins that were minted in 1877 1885 and 1899 respectively. I am just starting to research how and where to resell them and a coin shop owner told me he would pay about $1150 each if they were in good condition. It looks like mine have never been taken out of the plastic and are a bright shiny gold. From what I am reading online he totally low-balled the price. What are your thoughts on that since you understand the market better? Kathryn D

Hi I recently inherited three gold coins that were liberty head Eagles minted in the years of 1877, 1885 and 1899 respectively. I called a coin shop locally and they offered me around $1150 each if they were in good condition. These are a bright shiny gold and look like they have never been taken out of the protective plastic. After doing some reading online I am seeing that depending on a lot of variables, they could be worth many times more than the $1150. Who can I go to who is really honest and will give me what they are actually worse? How do you sort all this out? Your thoughts on this? Kathryn D
@Kathryn D - You have come to the right place for unbiased opinions from people who have no vested interest in misleading you. If you can post photos of the front and back of each coin (and a picture of the holder may be useful if it has a grade on it), then the members here can help you evaluate what you have.
Hi @Kathryn D Yep exactly like Ron said, post up as good of pictures as you're able. You may want to start a new thread here as well to get more views but just posting here is fine as well. I would also bring it to multiple coin shops no matter what and let them know "I'm bringing these to a few shops and just looking for the best offer".
First, welcome to the neighborhood @Kathryn D ! It would be best if you started a new thread either in "What's it worth" or "US Coins" and be sure to post photos of both sides of each coin. Chris
I was on a role today with my detector after having suffered several skunks. Scored three barber dimes and a several Indian cents (not pictured as I'm conserving them. lol).
