That coin looks to be ms62+. I’m mindblown if you actually found that metal detecting. I’m not doubting you but I find it hard to believe that the coin would come out of the ground in that condition. I’m a metal detectorist too and I’ve never found a silver coin like that. It’s worth about $200. That’s a really nice coin regardless of how you got it.

Were you metal detecting in your house?

It must have been specially sealed in a glass jar or something

I think maybe "metal detecting" may be a euphemism for some other thing and does not represent what 100% percent of people who really metal detect do outside, looking for coins in the ground.

Same answer as before, that Morgan did not come out of the ground,
    impossible.

Maybe you should try to find the other hidden coins from the burglary bounty.

Too bad someone tried to remove the bag mark with a grinding tool in the second picture. Coin would never straight grade now and is damaged. Unfortunate way to ruin a coin. Probably cut the value in half. I was once asked to find a diamond engagement ring in grass so it could be possible to find a coin like this just recently lost through metal detecting. Remote possibility though.

This is not a dug coin..... I have metal detected for 30 years and never saw a Morgan come out of the ground like this....

Detectorists have indeed found hidden caches of coins inside walls and under floorboards - agree that this particular coin would not come out of the soil or water in the pictured condition :headphone:

It is worth less in the second picture than it was in the first. That poor thing has suffered some damage between the first and second pictures.
