TWO Schilling crack.

    Well at least this one coin will not be melted down. I know it's a small crack off the end of the t, something is better than nothing. en-4.jpg

    I admit that I spent way too much time staring at the pictures and still don't see what you are talking about.
    Why would you melt this coin down anyways? It's just copper/nickel. Not silver.

    I was just reading online. The businesses did not have to accept any old coinage.
    But they say if you take it into the bank they'll exchange it for the new coinage. The old coinage was no longer good after October 15, 2017.
    They say they're going to collect all the old coinage and melted down to make the new coinage.

    They also estimate that there's over $500 million worth of coinage, that people just have laying around or in collections. In ashtrays and jars and piggy banks,
    at least that's what I was reading online.

    Like I said it's not a big crack but it's something

    That deadline applied to the old (round and "monochrome") £1 coin only. The florin (2s) was demonetized in the mid-1990s as far as I know ...

    Florins were demonetized July 1 1993.
