What would a coin in this condition most likely grade at? Just to get a ballbark understanding of what this appearance for a quarter would be. It's a bit brighter that the scanner shows.. Photo Here
Not good at grading quarters really, but I would say VF-30. But that is only my opinion. Nice coin. :thumb: Phoenix
True, I didn't take the rim ding into consideration. Still, a nice coin. Is this your quarter cykopat? Just curious. Phoenix
Yeah I pulled it out of a bag yesterday along with these other two. They were also my first staple flip attempts. They include a 1872 2 Cent piece and 1922-D one Dollar. Being as I have about 15,000 minutes worth of experience with coins.
thats a nice coin even with the rim ding!:thumb: since those 1937S quarters have a mintage of only 1,652,000, i would think the value will really increase in the future.
It looks to me just like the lettering on the front, however I think the dirt/gunk around around the mintmark makes it pop a little more and scanned at 300dpi @ 400% enhances that some I believe? Other than that, I would be at loss. I'd ask Gramps but he died 6 years ago.
Because it is circled with dirt and grime while on most of the rest of the coin it has been cleaned off.
If you personally know that he was the one who did clean them, OK fine. But it could easily have been anyone who had the coins prior to him.
