Was the 2002 Canadian nickel with the 1952/2002 on it the only nickel issued for circulation that year or was there a nickel also minted with a date of just 2002 on it ? I ask because there are so many design changes with these nickels and I am trying to do a date set set from 1922 to date. Kevin gave me a very good link for the nickel album and while I am waiting for that to come I will start getting the coins I have together by date. Thanks Bruce.
The 1952-2002 5¢ commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth was the only issue for that year. The 2 dates appeared on all the other denominations as well. Bill
There were two versions of the 1952-2002 nickel. One with no mintmark, the other with a 'P' mintmark.
Plated Steel as opposed to Cupro-nickel. All small change has been converting over to plated steel over the last several years, which means we all get to collect P and no-P mintmarks for each year. Add to that, the effigy change in 2003 and you've got 4 different 2003 nickel varieties, etc. Just adds a little excitement for us up here.
