i am amazed how hard it is becoming to find older bills in circulation. i've been checking my bills in change for about 3 months and the oldest i've found is a 1993 $5 note.
If that's true it really makes me glad that I stashed away CU 1995 fives and tens. Not to mention all of the circulated stuff I kept.
I can usually get all the 1976 deuces that I want at my bank. In fact, they are glad to get rid of them! I have a set of 1976 decues. One from every Federal Reserve branch.
I tend to find them in cycles. Sometimes I don't find anything for months and then at times I find a bunch.
That is the thrill of the hunt! You never know what you are going to find! Somes I will go years before finishing a book off. Then next thing ya know I have several finished in no time!
Same with me. Im going to keep it in a holder, because it seems that they are getting rare to find..:hail:
I dont see why the feds would remove a perfectly good note, just for it being 15 or 20 years old. they only replace worn notes. they dont remove them based on the series they were issued in. Is this an Urban Myth?
Because the older notes don't possess the new counterfit design and features like the newer notes. They are removing the old notes so that eventually any old notes passed will raise a red flag. The $100's were the first to go. Old style 100's are very tough to find. I found a 1990 series $100 and kept it just because of that reason.
as i mentioned.. Urban myth ... where does this news come out from? from everything i have ever been told by my banks, the feds to do not waste their time looking for an note from a specific series or date just to pull it. it is not in their best interest to waste the time to do that. All notes in time go to the shredder because of wear. my banks could be wrong, though, they are people too
