This is a morgan dollar i finished this week with the subject being a young boy with long flocks of hair and a floppy cap...Based on the street gang boys of New York during the 1800,s...

Just out of curiosity, How in the heck did you do that? A dremel tool?
I believe that is called a hobo coin now

    The next question becomes why?

I use the same tools as gun, knife and jewerly engravers use..The reason why i recarve coins is that there is a big demand for them in the art world as well the coin world...Modern coin carvings sell for as low as $5 to over $5,000..

How many hours do you have in this? What do you use to smooth out the fields?

On the scale of 1-10 as being a artist, i,m a [-1 ]..When i try to draw a face with a pencil it looks like a 1 year old child did it, in fact most 1 year kids can out draw me..But give me a hand graver and a image in my head or a picture in front of me and things start to shape up on a coin..I can,t explain it, i can,t draw a face with a pencil , but i can carve one out with a hand graver on metal
