Thank you for the great thread/post, Bing! I can’t name all of things for which I'm thankful because the list would be so long—it would overload the CoinTalk server I'll just say that I'm thankful to have found this forum and it’s many inspiring ancient coin collectors! I'm thankful for the excellent coin dealers who have made my collecting experience enjoyable. Here’s a grape coin symbolic of the fruitful harvest.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Here's my Galeria Valeria with Venus on the reverse - looks Thanksgivingy to me. Plus a bronze lepton of Alexander Jannaeus... And a coin of Rabbel II with cornucopiae on the reverse...
Happy Thanksgiving, American friends (and everyone) I'm thankful for friends, a home still liveable after 2 Cat 5 hurricanes, and for the restoration of my electricity a few days ago! Woohoo! No idea how long it will take for restoration of internet service to my home... perhaps many months. I'm sitting at the office today enjoying air conditioning (none of mine survived the hurricanes) and high speed internet. I'm grateful for my many new friends here on Cointalk, and I'm grateful that all of them pulled through the hurricanes safe and with houses still standing. But today has special meaning to me, as the first major holiday since my father's death in June. His 82nd birthday would have been November 21. And though I'm still deeply sad at not having him here anymore, I am also grateful that he lived as long as he did, and got to enjoy his life so much. Anyway... The turkey is a North American bird, so no ancient coins feature turkeys. But this stag would probably make some good venison:
Happy Thanksgiving all. The cookings done but have 2 houses on the visit list today. I'll be thankful if I can find some alone time with my coins this weekend. But always thankful for family and friends. This coin I still haven't been able to take a presentable photo of, so it's JA's pic. And sure the sea eagle isn't worthy to be eaten but anyway Istros, Moesia. AR Trihemiobol, 10mm, 1.1g; c. 380/350-330/280 BC. Obv. Facing male heads, the right inverted. Rev. Just about to head out for a feast at my sisters, but wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving - here is a mosaic of the goddess Ceres:
I am very Thankful for all my Coin Friends over this tough year - Hurricanes, other struggles, and as they recover from deaths of loved Ones for them. I am also Thankful for a healing family after losing a Son-in-Law, leaving a 3 month old, 18 month old, and a 9 year old. Also, thoughts for another Son-in-Law wrestling with major personal issues after retiring from the Army. Another Son-in-Law losing his Dear Father (he was my age) and his struggles. Hurricanes (affecting one of my 6 Daughters) Lastly, thankful for my Wife surviving 3 severe Heart Attacks (the second, the Cardiologist said if it were a couple minutes later... all in May-June.) Alegandron, half the travails you describe would suffice to bring many a strong man to his knees. You show great fortitude in how you are enduring this.
The bird, the grapes and the flying horse... might be reminiscent of Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving till Eternity. Cheers.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope that your meals are good and everyone gets to spend time with someone the love. We just had our lunch and I'm shirking my clean up duties for the moment. @Eduard you really ought to go for the full experience and roast a turkey! Oops forgot a coin!
