Hi guys, I'm completely new here, I have this coin from Sweden, 1657 and I just wanted to know what it was, if it's worth anything, you know the general spiel. Many thanks!!
If genuine it is a daler coin and quite valuable. Examine the edge for a sign of a line that would indicate it is a cast copy. If it is genuine, and it looks OK from the pictures it would be worth taking it to an expert for authentication.
First, welcome to the forum! I'm not sure about the coin but check for red flags of it to be a fake, such as a casting seam, correct weight and diameter ect. Thanks, Jacob
I found your coin in my 17th century 2003 Krause world coin catalog. KM#213 Sweden, 1657, 2 Mark denomination, weight 10.4008 g. or .2508 oz. metal- .7500 silver, mintage ? , mint-Stockholm. bust go Carl X Gustaf left. grade/value VG-$125 F-$200 VF-$365 XF-$750 I am not sure what your coins grade is ? values have probably be higher in a latest catalog. nice early date. where did you get this coin ?
Appears very much genuine based on photos alone. Very nice condition and old patina as well. Great find!
