There are many members who have coins from Mexico in their collection, Including myself... Why do you ask?
I have around 20 Mexican gold coins. This was my first ever Mexican coin.... AV 8 Escudos 1862-Go Guanajunto Mint/ CH. UNC.
I do, among other things. This is one of my all time favorites: NGC XF40. Crusty and totally original
2.5 peso gold coins are available on Provident for $4.99 over spot. Most are restrikes dated 1945. Good buy?
More than a few. Completed 1905-current type set. Complete uncirculated bronze\brass 20 Centavos collection. Multiple Onzas\Libertads. Coins from Mexico are the heart of my collections.
I've got quite a few really nice Mexican coins from all eras in my inventory. I started dealing in Mexican coins about 1965. My favorite eras are the Cap & Ray 8 Reales of the Republic period (1824-1897) and the coinage of the Mexican revolution (1910-1920). When you're working in these areas, its very important to learn which Republican 8 Reales mints had typically weak strikes and which revolutionary states had the same. Then, you can go through someone's stock and pick the exceptions. One example: The Zacatecas mint Cap & Ray coinage from 1825 to roughly 1850 are struck flat as a pancake, showing virtually no detail on the obverse cap & rays or the reverse eagle & snake even on Unc. examples. A few years ago I bought an 8 real 1843 Zs O.M. in lovely Au/Unc. with full "LIBERTAD" on the cap and sharply struck rays. On the reverse, the eagle had almost a full snake and virtually all of the feather details on the eagle. Like the other common 8R this guy had for sale, it was priced at $20. I didn't even try to dicker, just bought it! Turned down $75 from a dealer a couple of years ago and still have it I've only seen about half a dozen of them that nice from early Zacatecas in over 50 years. At the same show for $15 I bought a lovely well struck 1 Peso 1914 of Guerrero EF+ with nice luster and toning and a full snake on the eagle. The dealer had only graded it VG/F because of the normal crudity of this coin. Still have that one too. When I get more time, I'll get my wife to scan these on both sides and reduce the images to normal size with Photoshop and include them in another message.
I enjoy collecting Mexican coins as well as the next guy, but I don't care for some of Mexico's more recent issues. Nevertheless, Mexico's numismatic history is as rich as it is diverse. Here are some of my favorites, regardless of value or rarity:
