The silver commems of Finland have been a fun diversion or side-collection for me. I rarely add one, but they can be found reasonably priced (This was $30 including s/h for ~$11 of silver, slabbed). I'm on a numismatic diet right now, but I can't be expected to STARVE right?
Depends - I can't help you with a US grading but in the UK this would be VF or maybe VF+. In Italy I believe this corresponds to "Bellissimo" (BB) but not quite up to "Splendid" (SPL). I can see nascent verdigris spots in the eyebrows and in the ground in front of the face.
If you want a nicer example (and a better date too) be sure to check the Stack's Bower's NYINC catalog when it comes out. There will be a 1908 Italy 5c PCGS MS66 with a mind-blowing sky blue sheen.
Have this one coming. My first Proof Commemorative Euro coin. Description: Athletics has its roots in ancient Greek history. Today Greeks still refer to Athletic events as classical sports. Its first Olympic Games in 776 BC included a 192.2 m sprint known as the one stadium race (equivalent to today's 200m sprint). During the first 13 Olympiads between 776 and 728 B.C. it was in fact the only athletic event. In the composition a modern athlete figure appears in the foreground, shown in the starting position, while in the background two ancient runners are carved in such way as to give the appearance of a coin "worn" by time, a scene originally appearing on a black-figure vase of the 6th century B.C. Nice coin Steve. Looks like a little bit of treatment with verdicare would remove that verdigris easily.
