hello there. just wanting alittle help identifying this coin. got it from a family member and cant seem to work it out or find anything out about it on line. 1923. united states of america. no decimal and states germany on it?
ok now I see it. Since your coin shows stars I thought it was continuous. But once again. This is not a US Minted Coin. I don't know why it would say Germany.
yeah. it has two countries on it and no decimal.. so i really don't know. i have seen some somewhere while looking online with the same heads image but not luck finding out about this coin its self
thanks for having a look. my first thoughts were some kind of token, or something todo with the war. but the dates dont line up
Interestingly jody's has "United States of America" arched over the eagle, while that one has gibberish. Perhaps they had trouble with the other one?
I hope this kind of play money wasn’t made in Germany, because it doesn’t seem to be a quality product. And the eagle looks like a rooster ;-)
You will note that in the first two that paddyman showed they are from two different obv dies. The third piece is from yet another obv die. And the OP piece is from yet ANOTHER obv die.
I do think it's from roughly the same era as a US Indian gold piece. My guess? I tend to agree that it's vintage play money, made by a German firm. Judging from his webpage, our member @willieboyd2 might know a little bit on this topic.
I thought of you when I saw this item. I should of tagged you then! Did you see my post in your Kaiser Thread?
