Picked this up in change today, it has strong doubling on the reverse. Louisianna and United States of America both show doubling. Is this a common or a new find? Sorry about pic quality, I'll try and post better later. In this picture, the " U " of United shows the best.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

Looks like machine doubling, not a doubled die.

Only the UNITED S_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ERICA , the LOUIS ___, and the date 1803 show doubling on the reverse, and quite strong. Wouldn't a machine doubled coin have everything doubled?

I cant get a good picture here, I'll try at work tommorow

No, machine doubling, in my expereince, often only shows up only part of the coin...Mike

There is a DD known for the 2004 LP Nickel. I don't have photos on the site yet but do have some in hand. I'll try to get some of the pick-up-points listed soon.

After reading the DD section of my Cherry-Pickers guide, it looks at though it is strike/machine doubling, the " shelf " type, but I am not very experienced at this. Shelf doubling can appear on just one letter or an entire motto and everything in between. If it is an actual DDR, that would be great !!

Needless to say, it sure made searching fun today, a bit of excitement !!!

    Alrighty---

I'll pulled out my data and I found the photos and details on the DD...the only thing is this is a DDO and not a DDR..... It is listed as:
    CONECA 1-O-IV
Dooubling is noted on the WE, TRUST, GOD, IN, 4, and the P mintmark. They also show some doubling on the 200 and the start right before the date, the word LIBERTY and the FS below the bust.
