We recently hired another photographer to help out with the increased load on our Benefit Auctions, she was worried that she would not be able to take good enough photos... I think she will do just fine, what do you think?
The photographs show how the coin looks in hand. As such, I think it is better than many "professional" photographers that take flashy pictures which give no clue how it actually looks. Well done
I think the pictures are a little dark, especially the second one. Try having her change the lights to increase the contrast - on those high relief giant coins, capturing the actual heft of the thing is the real challenge. Obviously the first one has quite a bit of environmental damage, but does the second one have any traces of luster? I think she's off to a good start, and with a bit more practice she'll be quite good. I'm assuming she's got access to good equipment, which gives anyone a head-start.
