I just looked closer. Looks like air bubbles or glue? Maybe someone cracked the slab, replaced the coin, then resealed it!?!

Maybe it was graded just before they sold the company.

Seriously doubt it. The slab may have cracked and sealed it or more likely glue just got on it and some-point and wasn't scratched off it is glue.

You wouldn't be able to get the coin out of the insert ring holder with a slot like that and then slide a new coin in aligned perfectly

In regard to spots or the graffiti ? :)

Rather obviously the graffiti is going to make it a problem coin, a damaged coin - in anybody's book.

But spots, yeah they have a negative impact on the grade but are not reason for a no grade.

But that's not a carbon spot on that coin, I suspect it's gunk of some sort, but it is possible that something got on the coin and caused it to tone dark like that in that area.

And I definitely agree that coin not MS - even without the graffiti.

Isn't it better than insulting the owner?;)

Yep, those old white holders open up real easy! Shoot, they kind'a botched the job even...
That is really sad to see, I hope you can get your money back!!! Where did you buy it?

EBay. $400. No wonder it was cheap! He accepts returns. When I emailed him he said, "Sorry, didn't notice that."

I've noticed the old PCGS 5oz'ers & PCI slabs are easy too...I just say this as a disclaimer....if anyone sees something fishy with your holder, don't just gloss over it assuming your eyes are mistaken. Here are a few of my crack-outs with clean edges:

    Intentional scam.
Sounds like a return, and cross this seller off.

That is definitely a switch-a-roo job. You can see how the super glue leaked onto the white insert on the back where they put way too much glue on the shell.

I almost thought the next-to-last letter might be a "d", but that doesn't help much either...

Yup, looks like the original coin was taken out, and a crappy coin put back in.

No disrespect C-B-D but PCGS or NGC would tear that coin apart grading wise. Although, I'm sure you are aware of this.

I agree! But I think someone cracked the holder open, replaced the coin, and resealed it with superglue. Seller agreed to the return. But I'll be disappointed if he relists it.

Oh ok. I see. That's a pretty sleazy thing to do.

I thought I cracked this one pretty good. Entire thing snapped right back together. If you look for the cracks you see it.

Could easily have done a switch just like your coin. Luckily it was already a Details coin
