First of all it's no where near XF, secondly it has been harshly cleaned, and thirdly it shows signs of corrosion.

I agree with Doug. It looks VF-20, and it has been harshly cleaned.

I'd go with VF as well. It has some strange ware on it in my opinion. Why is Liberty so worn away, and yet both shields and a lot of the eagles feathers are very well intact? All in all, for $16.51, I'd say you got a really good deal. Nice find!

I agree with the consensus about it being a VF coin, but I think it's a nice coin for 16.51.

It is possibly cleaned, but I see toning on the coin, making is difficult to determine. The coin is VF30, IMO. However, I would buy coins like this for $16 all day long. Good deal.

I suspect the eBay photo of Ed's coin is overexposed, and in-hand it is much more attractive and original than the photos suggest.

I say this because the background appears to be black, and overexposed.

    Ed, can you comment?

    Thanks...Mike

Hi Leadfoot, All I can say is now that I have it in hand, it is completely original as far as I can tell without a microscope. It's a really nice coin.
