Should I break it out?

I decided to put together a complete set of Ikes a while ago. The past couple days, I have finally been putting then in their 2x2's and putting them in pages in a binder. Well I have the set almost complete now with the exception of the 1977S Proof.

Here is my problem, the only 1977S Proof I have is in an NGC slab graded PF68. I have never broke open a slab from one of the big 3 TPGs. Would you break one open just to fill a hole in a binder?

    Thanks...Mont

I wouldn’t either. Ike proofs aren’t to hard to find I’d just get another raw one if you really want one in the binder page

Probably cheaper, coin value wise, to buy a 1977 proof set and break that up for the Ike, and keep the NGC imprisoned for possible resell later. JMO.

I did this with several of them Just forgot to look for the 1977 set as well. Now I have several proofs to trade/sell.

Next time I go to my "LCS" I will have to pick one up. Thanks all.

I would not, if you plan on resubmitting it to NGC you run the risk of it dropping a grade or worse two. If you want to filler then buy a proof set like Kasia mentioned because there is no risk in that just little extra money.

Don't break it open unless you need instant gratification.

Nope had these for quite some time just now putting the best ones together in a set.

The only reason I asked was because it is only a PF68Cameo. Not very valuable and there are a lot of PF69DCAMS available for very little money. So reselling this one would hardly be worth it.

Crack it open! I don't think it would cost you very much, especially since you said that you have had them for a while. Save the NGC insert if you want.

I agree. The slab has value itself.

You’ve just answered your own question. I cracked out much more valuable coins and people here went nuts. Resell value, liquidity, etc. Do what you feel like.
