I found an interesting card in the mail box today. My wife and I went last year and had a great time. We have made plans to go again. She will attend Vogue Knitting Live and hunt for yarn. Anyone from here going?
I live in NYC. I went last year. I do my NGC submissions at this show. Most likely Saturday I will attend. This is the coin I want this time.. Uruguay 1940's silver PESO Last year I bought a Widows Mite
I'll be there. New location - Grand Hyatt. According to the bourse plan, all the dealers will be in one large space. I hope it feels less crowded than the Waldorf. The Waldorf also had crappy air conditioning, so I hope there's an improvement there.
I have to admit I'll miss that dated cologne smell wafting in the halls of the Waldorf. And the $7 Diet Cokes (which were happily free during the auctions). And the rooms that were nearly falling apart at the seams. ... Maybe change is good
If NYINC was a week earlier I would have been there this year. The GF and I were planning on going to NY over the holiday break but have since cancelled. Had NYINC been a bit closer to the break I would have pushed a little harder to go
I hope to be at the show as well. The New York show is from my point of view one of the best shows I have ever been too. My only real beef is the time of year. However i cannot remember the last time I saw so many high end coins, not to mention all the auctions.
I used this to my advantage last year. I checked into my room and used the toilet, but it wouldn't flush. The chain to the rubber flapper had broken. Too busy to change rooms (I had COINS to see), I spent the next 24 hours taking the top off the toilet and manually lifting the flapper to flush. I mentioned it at checkout and they took 50% off my room charge! Despite that annoyance, there was a certain mystique to the place that I'll kinda miss.
LOL... sorry, your story reminds me... I usually stayed at the George W Marriott in Hong Kong when I would go there on bidness. Occasionally, I would stay at the Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon... I had used the public restroom on the Mezzanine at the Peninsula. They had one-way glass over the urinals that looked out over the Grand Lobby, but were mirrored when you looked up from the lobby. LOL, a unique feeling that you were going on the Lobby crowd... RR Mussidius Longus 42 BCE AR Denarius Radiate Sol Platform SEWER GODDESS CLOACIN Sear 494 Craw 494-42
Sort of like the difference between Uber and a NY yellow cab. With Uber, you miss out on that local transportation experience with used needles in the seats and the strange aromatic mixture of vomit and perspiration. Change is good.
I was hoping to finally go in January but due to massive unplanned expenses courtesy of Hurricanes Irmaria, it's not going to happen this time On day 68 of no power, no water, no cell signal, and no internet at home. Power might be restored this week though
