I'm going to be focusing on the Gallic Empire a little bit in my collecting habits. This new one comes from a dealer in the Netherlands ex the Dr. W. Wruck collection. Victorinus was born into a Gallic family of great wealth, and he served as a soldier under Postumus and he held the title of tribune of the praetorians in 266-267 A.D. Following the brief reign of Marius, whom Victorinus had executed, he assumed control. During his reign, Hispania declared for Claudius Gothicus, so that province was lost. He was murdered by an officer named Attitianus, whose wife Victorinus had supposedly seduced. Type: AE Antoninianus, 19mm 2.7 grams, 268-270 A.D. Obverse: IMP C VICTORINVS P F AVG - Radiate, draped and cuirsassed bust right Reverse: PROVIDENTIA AVG - Providence standing left holding cornucopia, globe at feet Southern mint (according to Wildwinds) Reference: RIC V - 2 Hope you like it, and feel free to post any coins of Victorinus or the Gallic rulers here.
