I thought that 2017 was the last year of any dollar coin: but not according to the 2018 scheduled (for the Native American Dollar).
Native American Dollars are to be made till forever unless congress passes a bill to stop the production of the series.
And there will indeed be more issues ... 2018: Jim Thorpe, see above 2019: Native Americans in Space 2020: Alaska 1945 Anti-Discrimination Act Christian
Yes. Unless Congress get smart and discontinues the dollar note. Or in about 20 years or so when the dollar coin stockpile gets drawn down far enough that they actually have to make some more for circulation.
Aren't the men on the Presidential Dollars, and women on the First Ladies gold $10 all Native Americans?
Depends on how one defines "native". Sure, a term such as Indigenous Americans would be more precise. But the series is called Native American One Dollar Coins, and I suppose that most people understand what that means. Side note: In German we differentiate between "Inder" (in India) and "Indianer" (in North America). Pretty easy, hehe. Christian
I noticed that they removed the term "Native American" on anything asking for race or nationality. I always checked it because I was born in America. Whenever they mention that someone is "African-American" I have to ask if they are black or white. Charlise Theron was born in South Africa and is white and has US citizenship, so technically she is a real African-American.
You may want to contact the US Congress and/or the US Mint if you want the name of that particular coin series to be changed. Out of curiosity, how do you call the people that this series is about? Christian
Before Melania the only first lady that wasn't born in the U.S. was Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams. (Wife of John Quincy Adams). She was born in London. All of the other Presidents and 1st ladies were born in the U.S., but as was mentioned, some were born before the U.S. was a country, because it was a British colony.
