Here is a lot that recently gained my interest: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1916-1947-...391651&hash=item5200c5ce55:g:vCoAAOSwGPxZ--MN I'm pretty new to even be considering buying coins in bulk; however, I really do like Walking Halves. Anyways, I'd like to read some pros/cons of purchasing this lot - for example, what things do you consider as you evaluate your bid? For my part I established a baseline of slightly above melt value (60 coins x $7.00) to get a starting point of $420.00. A couple of the coins are worth a premium even in Good condition so I slapped on another $50.00 (not much) and $10.00 for the album. This gave me a starting bid of $480.00 - which lasted about 1 day before it was outbid. How can I improve my analysis - am I way out in crazy town on this one?
Here is a lot that causes me to paws a bit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Partial-Wa...880239?hash=item56a46e4faf:g:sucAAOSwY~lZ768i ^--- That lot has 4 less coins and is currently buy now at $40.00 less with no takers. That makes me think maybe the first lot is quickly approaching it's upper limit.
I THINK THE SECOND BATCH OF FIFTY SIX HALFS LOOKS BETTER THAN THE ONES YOU BID ON. AND CLOSER TO THE PRICE YOU BID, AS LONG A IT IS CLOSE TO MELT VALUE GUIDELINE YOU STATED!
But, the second lot doesn't have: 1916P, 1917 S. obv, [but missing the 1918s) 1929s, 1938 D, 1939 d, and the 1921 S is far nicer. in lot #1
Are you trying to put together a set of WL Halves? If so, it is more fun to get them one of a time to make sure they match each other. If you just want silver, you'll get more silver (less wear) if they are 58-63 Franklins and 64 Kennedys.
Yes, I love Walking Liberty's too, but they look a little rough. I'm old and I guess I'm used to seeing them in a lot better condition, but value is in condition.
