I have a 1988 $100 what looks to be gold Mexican coin with V.Carranza and a O over M marking on one side, and the eagle and snake on the other. Uncerculated. I have not been able to find it on-line and do not know what the value is could you please help me? I asked this question to info@mexicancoincompany.com and was told it was bronze, however, this coin is so heavy and so gold in color I am not sure. I have even compared it to my other gold and bronze and it looks and weighs like gold to me. What is the deal? I have pictures if any one wants me to e-mail them to them. Help ?!?/@#%^^#@??
A quick check of V. Carranza came up with this: $100 V. Carranza Serie : FQ 1 Billete 1 billete Cuarta Emisión Fecha : 30 / mayo / 1974 Serie : FQ Estado de conservación : CU Manejo y envío por Mexpost : $40 Reuna sus compras para que se diluya el costo del flete Pago : depósito bancario ( BANCOMER ) Y " Mercado Pago" Lo invito a visitar mi " e-shop " donde encontrará cientos de artículos de calidad total a magníficos precios Now I cannot read spanish, but with a price of $40, it would have to be very small to be a gold coin. Maybe another member will come along and translate this for us
Thanks for your reply this coin is larger than a US quarter and twice as thick I don't know if that helps any? Thanks
Your 100 Peso coin is an aluminum-bronze alloy. 433,100,000 were minted in 1988. The O over M is the mintmark for Mexico City. In Uncirculated it retails for about $2
