It's slow at my house. Had to do something. Check out this coin. It has a lot of stuff going on. What do you see? I'm going to the local bar. I'll check in later.
Thank you very much, Oldhopster. I am familiar with this variety since I discovered these two in my collection which I had overlooked for many years as straight 1858 types. (sorry for the terrible pictures).
Initially, I didn't pick up the inverted date when I first saw the @ldhair post. Every once in a while, when you think you know a lot, it's good to see something that humbles you a little. As soon as I saw your post, I looked it up in Breen (listed as Breen 3091 and Breen 9), Valentine (not Listed) and Blythe. I have to put it on my list on things to look for coin shows.
I see the inverted Date. I also see evidence of clashing, which the heavy die file lines on the obverse and reverse tried to cover up. Apparently that mint employee didn't believe in subtly. LOL
I see a coin with what is to me semi-attractive toning that was struck with badly mislaigned dies, that also had a repunched date, and were incorrectly polished.
I'm seeing a near Condition Census, very late state, post-clash version of the error with some of the most prominent die polishing possible done to remove the clash artifacts on both faces.
