    In my humble opinion, there is NOTHING cooler in the numismatic world than an ancient coin with proof of circulation. It conjures up ideas of all of the people who touched it, what it was used to buy, was it lost and picked up in the street by someone, or stolen by a pick-pocket, etc, etc.

    These are really cool coins @Alegandron

    A bunch of bronzes:
    Nerva dupondius (Concordia Exercitum - I don't have a sestertius.)
    rc1620bb1715.jpg

    Trajan sestertius (Mourning captive)
    rc1725bb3274.jpg

    Hadrian sestertius (Travel series - Egypt)
    rc1975fd3391.jpg

    Antoninus Pius sestertius (Pax)
    rc2160bb1026.jpg

    Marcus Aurelius sesterius (Restitution of Italy)
    rc2285bb3033.jpg

    Lucius Verus sestertius (Shaking hands with Aurelius)
    rc2380bb0763.jpg

    OK, I know Commodus was not what you would call 'good' but he was Emperor and he was part of the dynasty so should be collected with the rest. I'll show this as when he first became Caesar and had not had time to be too bad....yet. (Liberalitas scene) rc2430b00976lg.JPG

    @ Spaniard: Until your post I didn't know anyone had specific good Caesars collections. Maybe I've missed out on some "Good Caesars" posts. Of course it's all relative. They were only good compared to the many perversely psychopathic nutjob Caesars. My collection revolves around the good Caesars starting with Nerva and centered around Antoninus and Marcus. Collecting the good Caesars is much cheaper and easier than collecting the 12 Caesars. More beginners should consider it.

    I love Dave's elegantly photographed bronzes. Wow!

    That is a very nice denarius. I used to be satisfied with my two bronzes of Marcus, but after seeing quite a few beautiful silvers on CT I now have decided I need one!

    Being a "newbie"here I'd Just like to say that I'm really enjoying this forum and the responses allow me to learn a great deal from the more experienced collectors thanks!!

    Great coins all!!
    @Alegandron Really like the Trajan as and the youthful MA.
    @dougsmit Lovely Trajan sestertius...
    @Macromius I agree its a set quite affordable I've put 5/6 because ..
    Nerva,Trajan,Hadrian,Antoninus Pius,Marcus Aurelius,../6 Lucius Verus...Sorry Doug but I won't include commodus in my set,the others weren't saints but he was a long way past!...I've given myself a budget of 300 euros for the set including postage and it's do-able obviously the hardest is Nerva but they're out there.
    I've actually got 3 of the good emperors..I must apologise about the bad photography.something I'm working on..
