I picked it up off the Ebay for $6.36. It hasn't shown up from Thailand yet. At first, I thought...nah, but then I'm digging into genuine 3 legged 1937-d's more deeply and I'm starting to see things that make me think yeah! The seller's listing was for this very 1937 USA nickel, not a 3 legged nickel. I think I see hints of the moth eaten back of the indian's neck, and the buffalo certainly looks like he's peeing. I see the line where the front leg should be, I don't know what to make of that- die chip maybe? But then there would be a number of those known. So what do you say? Real, or Thai Fake?

Lettering looks really crude to me. Look at 'pluribus'.

The images were taken at an angle which doesn't help. I'm not so sure that it isn't a fake.

Thailand?? That is a bit of a red flag. Especially as an ebay purchase. And plus, it looks a little too good to be true.

It's awfully convincing, but that's what counterfeiters strive for. Because of the prospect of a high grade and the dollar value involved, I wouldn't hesitate sending this to a third party grader. Just to be sure.

I believe the back leg is supposed to appear "moth-eaten" on genuine coins... I'm not seeing that on this one.

I'm with Jim. It looks fake to me. But why figure it's a Thai fake? After all, China's in the neighborhood.

The entire reverse looks like a cartoon. Ridiculously bad fake.

Looking from one photo of rev. to other it looks to have that kind of change that a raised area would have. Just reading the tea leaves.

Harsh! I think I could get the same photo of a genuine 3 legged with the wrong photo skills!

Look at how wavy the words E PLURIBUS are. Like an ADHD child couldn't write straight enough to stay on the line. Looks like they were added/carved into the fake die as an afterthought.

Unfortunately, this counterfeit is so poorly made, the only good things about it are that it is round, shiny, and has a similar design to the genuine coin! Easiest thing is to look on the internet for an image of a genuine coin and compare what you see.

Looking at the Pluribus, the ball on the rearmost portion of the back leg, the raised ball at the tip of the penis, and if you look very closely at where the foreleg is supposed to be you can see 2 little dots on the genuine one- did those become a die chip? Look at the bad die erosion between the rim and Liberty and United States of America- seems to match
