I am curious about what people think is the prettiest coin in common circulation. Lets restrict this to things that you can get out of pocket change every day. Coins that are in common daily circulation. My favorite is the Kennedy Half Dollar. I think that is a beautiful coin!
Kennedy half dollar. Just got a roll today and I don't return them to the bank. I make the local WalMart, HyVee and other cashiers deal with the ones I don't want. Otherwise, I would go for the Ike Dollar. Is that an acceptable entry? I have a lot of them. Would Walmart take them? If so, then my vote is for the Ike Dollar. A big, solid piece of metal that makes the dollar seem important!!!!
The Morgan design is pretty renowned to be a beautiful design. The half-dollars, and Ikes appeal to me, but so do the Indian Head/Buffalo Nickels, and Mercury Dimes. I don't have a specific favorite.
Ike dollars are a great vote Pocket Change but you cant get them in circulation much anymore. They are big and bulky. I have a bunch too I have the 1890-1990 Proof That is a beautiful coin! But I am talking about standard pocket change that we all use every day. What do you think is the prettiest coin in circulation?
The Morgan Dollar is a beautiful coin. So are the rest. But I am talking about your standard pocket change that you use every day
Funny but I JUST posted on another thread how stagnant and boring U.S. coins have become. Tired of dead Presidents as a theme. However, if I had to choose the new Jefferson obverse is a nice change and get this (gasp!) I DO like he reverse of the Sacagawea and I am a known "modern dollar basher". Something about an eagle in flight ya know?
I would say the wheat penny, since those are occasionally found in circulation, and found fairly often in bank rolls.
Also, the 2005 profile Jefferson nickel. I think the forward-facing Jeffs are the most hideous U.S. coin is history, but I really like the 2005 Jefferson profile. Those idiots at the mint should have stayed with that one.
Current coins: the Jefferson. I really like the reverse of the Kennedy, but I haven't gotten one in change in years. I have spent a few with confused cashiers though.
Of the coins in "circulation" today, I'll go out on a limb and say the Sac dollar. The reverse could have been so much more, but the obverse is definately better in my opinion than anything in change today. Guy~
My favorite coin currently in circulation is, well, I guess there are none. My favorite that used to be in circulation would be either the Standing Liberty Quarter or the Franklin Half.

Well, the old Washington Quarter design (not the State Quarter design) is nice. And there are plenty of these still in circulation, so I'd have to go with that. Second choice would be the Roosevelt Dime.
