It's been two years since I started collecting ancients. In commemoration of my second anniversary, here are my top 5 coins of the past two years.

I was so naive during my first post here. I exceeded my expectations of how many coins I'd have by now by more than 1000%, and even only counting Roman Republic coinage my prediction was still way off.

I also love the prediction I made in the same thread that I'd probably get a Greek coin in a few years. Little did I know I'd have my first one a few days later.

And the speech about only buying slabbed coins and staying away from raw ancients, that's pure comedic gold. Newbies really do say the darnest things. Looking back on it all, I think it's safe to conclude ancients are way more addicting than I assumed, and that my first few posts are embarrassingly comical now, which is a good sign of just how far I've come.

Great coins Sallent! Happy second anniversary. Please remind me, what is the appropriate gift is for a second anniversary - gold? Treat yourself an aureus?

As mentioned in my first post on this forum, I took a decade off collecting when focusing on my career. Now I regret doing so. The knowledge is coming back but I cannot help but think how much learning I could have had in those years!

Congrats on the anniversary! I think you've without doubt been steadily assembling an excellent collection of ancients. I've enjoyed your posts and seeing what you choose to acquire. One minor quibble... no Gordie in the Top 5?? :D

Tell me about it... I look back at my old post and I cringe. (Although I'm still a newbie in... everything)

Welcome to the club - when I joined this forum I was collecting Kennedy half dollars. Nothing wrong with that of course, but ancient coins opened up a tremendous vista of history and numismatics of which I was completely unaware. Talk about being red-pilled.
