http://www.numismaticnews.net/artic...ent=973999_EDT_NUM-FRI171006&utm_medium=email I always enjoy a well written article on anything numismatic. So, I'd like to share this one on early banknote and banking fraud in the state of New Hampshire. Enjoy! Tom @ToughCOINS Not sure if you have read this yet. I'll be in your neck of the woods on (Lake Winny) starting next Sunday. Hope the weather is nice.
Thanks Tommy, I knew some of the history recounted by Mr. Bowers, but not in such great detail. I too hope the weather is good for you. Will you be in the area for the NH Coin & Currency Expo, Nov 3rd & 4th? - Mike
No, sadly, I will be leaving on the 29th. By any chance do you know Doug from Newfound Coin & Jewelry (formerly) in Bristol? He moved his shop to New Plymouth last year. Nice guy (I think) that I've garnered a pretty good relationship with. He's also with the police department, which is a good thing.
I don't know Doug, but I am acquainted with Chris, who tended the shop for Doug for a while. Sorry we'll miss you in Manchester. Another time, hopefully. Enjoy your time at the lake. - Mike
ToughCOINS I will be in Manchester on Saturday. Stop by Pilgrim Coins table (formerly DelGreco's) if you get a chance.
It's a shame it took a Civil War to get the needed national legislation to put these banks out of business and to acquire a national currency. Instead of all those little state and local banks issuing a currency backed by nothing more than "faith and credit" we only have one very large one doing that.
