5 cents Jeffersons nickels for the most part aren't worth much in circulated condition. Few and far between do any circulated coins hold any major values. However this series is an easy one to complete, and in mint state F S coins do hold some high values. This is also a proof coin which would have full steps to begin with... it an impaired proof since it was circulated,
Not in a proof strike....in mint state perhaps , it is odd that you found a proof coin in pocket change....
Hmmmmm...seems to have a good attitude, perhaps we should explain that having it sideways makes it more difficult to gauge the condition and features.
It's so beat up. That's why I couldn't tell it was an impaired proof. I did notice the fields, but I wasn't sure if that was just the lighting. I didn't see proof rims. The steps are decent, but in this case this coin isn't worth anything. Proof-35 Details
The rims on the reverse make it pretty clear that it is a proof strike. Is there any premium for full steps in grades lower than MS? Not for this coin, just in general. I would think that if anyone cares about a minor detail like full steps, then they would also want the coin to be MS.
There's a guy on ebay that has a complete 1938-2015 BU and Proof set that he want's $3,800 for. Crazy! It doesn't look that special to me.
I wouldn’t take 3,800 for my set, I probably have double that in it. When going after higher grades of MS, they can get pretty pricey.
The 69-S business strike with 5 full steps is almost non-existent. There's an ANACS one on eBay now for $4999 obo, but the reason it hasn't sold is because it's not a true FS.
Proof Jeffersons are not eligible for the FS designation. This is an impaired proof with face value only.
