It looks like a nice bit of machine doubling. I haevn't gotten my sets yet so I don't know. Heck, I might not even buy a set this year. Speedy
i agrree with the smarter folks, but from my point of view... machine doubling or not... its got a cool effect going! the doubling is so uniform across the letters. very neat!
Thanks for the responses. I could tell it wasn't a double die and figured it was machine doubling. I agree with Daggarjon that I thought it looked interesting because the doubling was so uniform across the lettering. I have a couple questions: Is machine doubling and shelf doubling the same thing? What happens in the process that causes it? Would a uniform doubling like this increase or decrease the value of the mint set?
from what i have seen, any machine doubling is most always considered damage, and thus worth less then face value this type of doublin happens when an element shifts while in the pressing motion. someone else might be able to provide better explanation lol
