This got me curious, so I checked out the result of the google translation. It didn’t do well on the ‘stellenweise’ nuance. Basially, horn silver is ‘in places’ or ‘here and there’.
Yes, "small crackling crack" is not very helpful. We should have a thread on some of the funnier manglings of coin descriptions we've received from google translate. (The German ones seem particularly prone.) One of my favourite recent ones was my Rhodes didrachm which featured "Head of Helios with beam rim." Another coin had a "depressed square." (Incuse square, of course. ) Save 'em up, folks!
