Alright, so we know how there are a lot of people out there who dont know much about 2$ bills, half dollars, and older 1 dollar coins when we use them. My friend had an idea though: get an uncut sheet of one's, and use them to pay for something. Lets say we have a sheet totaling 8. "Your total is $4.55" you: "oh ok" *pulls out the sheet - cuts out 5 one's* "here ya go" I think my friend and I are going to try that sometime.... your thoughts on how well that would go? lol
i dunno how it would work. i really think the store clerk you pick on would think they are fakes and imediately call the police. but even for a survey .. uncut sheets carry quite the premium - im not sure i would want to waste it just to see the clerks face. on the other hand... if YOU were to do it... post pics
did this years ago at a hotel bar. the bartender knew that the hotel had just hosted a coin show so it didn't phase him a bit. Ziggy
i would seriously not do that. did you hear the story of the guy using $2 bills as a purchase, and got called the cops on at a jc penneys a few months ago? did you hear about the "fake" proof coins someone spent that the mint made? not a good idea. i could see you in the newspaper now. even if you did not get the cops on you, uncut sheets are expensive. you could sell uncut sheet notes for $15 in CU for a $1 bill! thats what i have seen on ebay though. do what you want with your money, but i'm saying it dosn't sound like a good idea.
My father sends my daughter $2 bills with his letters. She has no problem spending them. I guess a little girl with a handful of $2 bills can be trusted...
I think they would call the Police immediately Leavenworth Federal Penetentiary is not far from here. I will come visit ya! No I wont deliver a cake with a file in it!
I've done this with Ike dollars and $2 bills....always has generated good conversation and interest. Its good to generate buzz out there once in a while, especially with younger people.
I've always wanted to pay for dinner with Morgans. Problem is, I hate to part with them too much, even worn cheap ones, so I'll probably never get to do it. Guy~
The sheets weren't mine by the way. I was with a dealer that had just had a very good show and wanted to have some fun. the idea that I heard recently that I would like to try is to get 100 crisp new singles and jlue them on one edge like a note pad and then just tear off as many as you need. Richard
I would love to see the look on the cashiers face when someone tried that. To be a fly on the wall to see if the bills get refused, or if the checker calls the police the instant you leave would be much fun.
i know someone that uses old morgans for tips. if you want to leave one as a tip, it wouldn't be as bad as paying with them!
