That page values the OP's note at $125-$180. Where are you seeing $250?

(Are you looking at the value for a Gold Certificate? This note is a Federal Reserve Note....)

 

So interesting that these still show up in circulation!

 

Yeah that note will barely scrape above face - common district, and condition mean you won't profit selling that note except face to face, forget eBay. It's even alot of money to tie up just as face value for that.

 

I can see it is FRN but it says:
Redeemable in gold on demand.
So $125 then.
