AT or Natural? Your Thoughts....

Just bought these off the Bay....of course the pretty colors got my attention but didn't buy them for the toning. Bought them cause it was a good deal, paid $20 for the Peace and $26 for the Morgan. The pics are from the listing and I don't have them in hand yet, but was wondering if I could get some of you kind folks opinion on if these are natural or AT. What I know about toning is what I've learned here but of course it's still foreign to me......

My gut says artificial unfortunately....

Me, too! That line on the right side of the reverse of the Morgan almost looks like it was painted, and the Peace looks like it was subjected to a heat source.

AT based on the colors

 

No, solvents won't remove something chemically bonded to the metal. It might change the colors a bit as it removes any oils on it though. You have to use a weak acid, which alters the luster.

 

I'd say AT. The Morgan's reverse and the Peace dollar's obverse have color changes that don't have that classic subtle change that you'd expect from a thoroughly toned coin.

Without questions this is AT. Whoever did that ruined those coins.

 

AT and I think you can do better on those purchases. Take your time and you'll be surprised what you find while sifting through for sale items.

 

As I said in the OP, I did not buy them for the toning, the 26 D looks to be a possible VAM 1F (might be might not be) $20 is worth the gamble, the 85P looks to be a far date which could be any number of VAM's, again, for $26 worth the gamble.....the toning just drew me to them for a looksy. Thanks again all for your comments. I learn a little more each time I post
