1952 interesting cent crescent capped?

    I have never came across this in my years of searching it looks like a crescent moon capped on Lincolns head. I have put it in acetone and here we are with this result. 195201.jpg 195202.jpg 195203.jpg 195204.jpg

    It looks like it could be a lamination of some kind, maybe?

    Actually in the case of the OP's coin, it's a nice sized interior die break per cuds-on-coins.

    Retained lamination is my call since it does not touch the rim.

    the more I look at it it does resemble retained lamination. I showed it to a co worker who is not really in to collecting but still thinks old coins are cool and he said it looked like a eagle talon lol.

    there is no such thing as an interior cud
    It must include the rim

    He didn't call it an interior cud, he said interior die break. Those do exist, retained and otherwise.
