Yes NGC slabs world coins. As for how to go about it, just visit the NCS web site and follow directions.

Is that gold? It shouldn't tone so that has to be something spilled on it. Just join the forum at NGC and ask them, they are very responsive to customers.

You need to be an NCS dealer, an ANA member, or a Collectors Society member to submit to NCS. If you're none of those, feel free to send me a PM. I'm an NCS dealer.

Cost are 1% (evaluation) and 3% (conservation), with a minimum of $5 and $15 respectively.

The blue looks like some sort of adhesive. Have you tried soaking it in pure acetone?

thanks for the info. i thought putting the coin in acetone would damage the coin?

depends who you ask. I am with the group who belives any cleaning is bad. even acetone that might leave little or no trace.

Thanks, spock1k. Given the soft nature of gold, and the age of the piece, it is amazing shape. (Maybe a treasury coin?) Congratulations on such a fine aquisition! Mike

Yes, I believe that sending it to NCS will probably do it some good. If you want to submit it yourself, join the ANA and get a submitting number from them. It's cheaper and you get all of the ANA benefits too.

Pure acetone will not harm the coin. Don't use acetone nail polish remover as that usually has fragrance or oils mixed in it.
